Dr Helen Darling, Chief Executive Officer
Helen has a PhD in Public Health from the University of Otago and an MA (with distinction) from Victoria University in Wellington. She was a delegate to the Private Sector Forum of the FAO Food Summit in 2009. She has over 20 years of experience in both health, education, project management and systems design. Helen is also a Director of Forensic Solutions NZ Ltd.

Associate Professor Jurian Hoogewerff, Chief Scientist

For the last 20 years, Jurian has been developing geochemical provenancing methods for environmental, archaeological, forensic and food authentication applications at universities and research institutes in Holland, Austria and the UK.

At present he is Chief Scientist at Oritain and Associate Professor at the International Forensic Research Institute at Florida International University in Miami, USA. Jurian has managed major international research projects and organises workshops in forensic provenancing at international conferences around the world.

At present he is most interested in the statistical and forensic interpretation of provenancing data and to make these complex scientific results understandable for stakeholders and the general public. Jurian has a MSc and PhD in Geochemistry and PhD in Geochemistry / Volcanology from Utrecht University in the Netherlands.

Murray Walker, Chief Financial Officer
As a Chartered Accountant, Murray has experience that encompasses a diverse range of commercial sectors such as tourism, property development and food production. Murray has enjoyed senior financial and managerial positions in some of NZ's leading commercial entities and is involved in community trust boards, in both trustee and chair positions that reflect his interest in tourism, sustainability, and environmental issues.

Linda Croudis, Operations Manager

Linda Croudis has enjoyed a successful career in finance over the last twenty five years, working in various sectors of personnel management, business development, agribusiness banking and brokering industries. Born and raised in rural New Zealand, Linda has a special appreciation for farmers and producers.

Jan Jopson, Sales and Project Manager
Jan is both a US and NZ citizen. Jan attended Lincoln College as part of an Animal Science degree she earned from Oregon State University. After nearly 20 years in public health research at the University of Otago, she is welcoming a role at Oritain which will bring her back in contact with primary producers.

Dr Rebecca McLeod, Consulting Scientist
Rebecca earned her BSc at the University of Canterbury in 1998 and her PhD in 2008 from the University of Otago. She was the winner of the 2008 MacDiarmid Young Scientist of the Year Award.

Rebecca's recent research has been in developing a deeper understanding of the mechanisms behind species-level differences in fatty acid composition. This is leading to the use of fatty acids in combination with geochemical techniques in an effort to detect differences in the geographical origin of samples.




Mike Darling, General Manager, New Zealand
After nearly twenty years in the NZ Police-CIB, Mike brings extensive experience in forensic management to Oritain. In addition to the legal experience, Mike was involved in the development and establishment of a laboratory to undertake forensic chemical analyses. Mike is involved in the development of all product systems and this ensures the level of integrity of Oritain systems exceed forensic requirements.

Kathleen Dobson, Director of Business Development
Kathleen Dobson is a US citizen and resident. Her principal focus is on Oritain's US governmental policy interests and development of emerging markets. She works from her home office in Silver Spring, Maryland. Kathleen earned her MBA at George Washington University in Washington D.C. Prior to joining Oritain, Kathleen spent eight years with New Zealand Trade and Enterprise as Business Development Manager.
