About the role:

With our business continuing to grow, we are now in a position to expand our laboratory to a 7-day a week operation. Oritain is currently looking for a dedicated Laboratory Assistant to enhance our team in this entry-level role. The standard days & hours of work are: Mon, Tues, Wed, Sat, Sun 130pm-10pm daily (40 hours per week). You will be responsible for supporting the laboratory operations and carrying out routine tasks to ensure smooth and efficient laboratory functioning. Your main tasks will include sample handling, preparing samples for analysis, conducting basic laboratory tests, maintaining equipment, and ensuring compliance with lab protocols and safety guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

• Handle incoming and outgoing samples efficiently and accurately
• Prepare samples for analysis by following standardised protocols
• Conduct basic laboratory tests following established procedures
• Maintain lab equipment, including cleaning and calibration
• Ensure compliance with lab protocols, procedures, and safety guidelines
• Complete accurate documentation and record-keeping
• Collaborate with team members and assist with other tasks as required

About you:

• While experience working in a laboratory is desirable, it's your team attitude & diligent nature we're looking for
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to follow instructions and protocols
• Good organisational and time management skills
• Basic computer skills
• Excellent communication and team collaboration skills
• Knowledge of laboratory safety procedures and practices is desirable but not essential
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment
